Tour de Villers/Villerstoren

(Boulevard de L'Empereur)

   A remnant of the city's first town wall, the Tour de Villers encompasses remains of a tower and curtain walls. They were uncovered in 1947 on demolition of old working-class residences, which backed on to the site. Traces of staircases, slit windows, stone corbels, and merlons remain.
